Meet John

John's Story

John is an independent engineering consultant, working with a variety of companies, including multiple Fortune 500 companies. John’s first job out of college was driving corvettes around the GM Proving Grounds. John has published multiple technical papers on advanced engineering topics, and is a patent-holding engineer. John is also a technical project manager, having installed capital equipment at nuclear facilities.

In addition, John is an adjunct professor of graduate business school at multiple area universities, including Benedictine University and North Central College. John has taught over 40 courses, including international economics, finance, accounting, and leadership to both traditional and adult students.

John has the detailed focus of an engineer, while having the big picture focus of someone who studies economics. It is this combination of technical understanding and business acumen that will make John a valuable addition to city council.

Family

John is a widowed father of two fine young men. John’s wife, Barbara, passed from cancer in 2001, when David was 8 and Nathan was 6 years old. David is now 20 years old and is studying Psychology at COD. Nathan is now 18 years old and is studying Economics at Indiana University. Annie is his 13 year old collie.

Professional Background

John has over twenty years in the Automotive Industry, as well as the On-Off Highway, and Nuclear Industries. John earned his MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and an MBA from Indiana University.

Education

John earned a BSME and an MSME from the University of Cincinnati in 1987, an MBA from Indiana University in 2004, and the PMP (Professional Project Management) certification from the Project Management Institute in 2006.

Teaching

John has been an Adjunct Professor at Benedictine University since 2006. John is also teaching at North Central College. He has taught over 40 courses, including international economics, finance, accounting, and leadership to both traditional and adult students. John has taught at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
